Rodger Douglas Harrison President Paramedics For Children Rodger Harrison is a native of Gastonia, North Carolina where he was in the commercial real estate business until his retirement and sale of his business in late 1991. Upon retiring from real estate, he decided to go to school and became a Paramedic and worked as a line medic from 1991 until 1996 in his home town of Gastonia, North Carolina until he had to leave the EMS service due to an accident that resulted in a disability that prevented him working in field operations. Retired again, he soon found himself visiting Honduras Central America in the spring of 1997 on a tour. At the end of the tour he stayed behind in the village of Copan Ruinas, Honduras where he studied Spanish. He began to see a need for EMS medical services in the area, and was often called on to help with medical emergencies. Over time he found himself forming Paramedics For Children, an all-volunteer organization made up of paramedics, fire fighters, and other medical professionals from all around the world. | At the present time PFC has put 41 ambulances in service in both Honduras and Guatemala
with over 300 trained volunteers. PFC also provides school supplies and vitamins to over fifteen hundred children
in the high mountains of Copan. In addition to this PFC is operating a medical clinic for the poor in Copan Ruinas.
Rodger Harrison lives and works in Honduras eleven months out of the year. During the summer he returns to do fundraising for his organization. Rodger is also a professional musician, and holds a commercial pilot's license. |
