VOLUNTEER WITH US

Individuals, couples, groups and families: no matter what you’re looking for, we have a volunteer opportunity waiting for you.

The people we serve are largely the indigenous Chortí Maya, descendants of the great Maya city-state of Copán. Many of the families we work with live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $1.25 a day with little access to healthcare.

MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Most days, we get up early, have a group breakfast, load up equipment and supplies, and our education volunteers will head out to the villages for school supply delivery while our medical volunteers get started at the onsite clinic. Around noon, we all meet back up at the Hacienda for a homemade lunch.

You’ll have afternoons free to explore the sights and attractions of Copán Ruinas—you can check out the archeological sites and museums, tour the tropical bird park, or shop for the perfect souvenir to take home.

In the evening, you’ll head back to the Hacienda for dinner, plan for the next day, and get to know your fellow volunteers and the Paramedics for Children team.

PROGRAM FEES

Your program fee is used 100% to keep our clinic operational and to purchase and deliver school supplies to classrooms. All education program volunteers are asked to pay $470 per week, while our medical program volunteers are asked to pay $520 per week, which covers accommodation at Hacienda la Esperanza, Honduran VAT tax, three meals per day, and project-related transportation and gear. This does NOT cover travel costs, personal expenses, or additional meals and entertainment.

Your volunteer experience with us is 100% tax deductible: Paramedics For Children is a 501c3 nonprofit organization (ID # 56-2142951).
